Leisure

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

The Solitary Reaper

The Solitary Reaper

Behold her, single in the field,
Yon solitary Highland Lass!
Reaping and singing by herself;
Stop here, or gently pass!
Alone she cuts and binds the grain,
And sings a melancholy strain;
O listen! for the Vale profound
Is overflowing with the sound.

No Nightingale did ever chaunt
More welcome notes to weary bands
Of travellers in some shady haunt,
Among Arabian sands:
A voice so thrilling ne’er was heard
In spring-time from the Cuckoo-bird,
Breaking the silence of the seas
Among the farthest Hebrides.

Will no one tell me what she sings?--
Perhaps the plaintive numbers flow
For old, unhappy, far-off things,
And battles long ago:
Or is it some more humble lay,
Familiar matter of to-day?
Some natural sorrow, loss, or pain,
That has been, and may be again?

Whate’er the theme, the Maiden sang
As if her song could have no ending;
I saw her singing at her work,
And o’er the sickle bending;--
I listened, motionless and still;
And, as I mounted up the hill
The music in my heart I bore,
Long after it was heard no more.

I Have Forgotten Myself...

My blood colours in your tale my love
Shouldst you forget, I shall still remember
When I wish to burst forth in tears
Wretch that I am, forbidden to cry out
When this mortal shell in anguish throbs
My tongue dare not give word, speak not I
In all my words, that which is hid
That which I foolishly choose to show
I no longer know what meanings remain
You turn my truth into a coat of lies
You wear it well, you choose to leave
You break me, cudgel me, bruise me, batter me
My many broken pieces then become your strength
I am an emptiness, and thus have you forsaken me
Now you gently enquire – how farest thou?
Me, I shall never ever return my love
I have neither home nor homecomings
An endless wait is all I am heir to
Having forgotten my way, forgetting my self ~ I leave today

Never Say Promise if You Don't Care...

Never say I love you if you really don't care.
Never talk about your feelings if you really don't share.
Never hold my hand If you are gonna break my heart.
Never say your going to be if you never plan to start.
Never look into my eyes if all you do is lie.
Never say hi if you really mean goodbye.
If you really mean forever then say that you will try.
But never say forever, because forever makes me cry...
